Life is a never ending journey

I love Maine. I love our house on Vernon St. I love the wildlife that reside in it. I love the snow. I love everything about it. It was my home for the last 9 months. In the few months that I lived there, I was able to make few friends Im sure I will miss. Greg's family who've been really really nice to me, will be dearly missed. The thought of leaving our home saddened me so much. I cried a river when we left, I wanted to stay. Greg had to use a crawbar to get me out of the house. We are now in Florida. They call it the Sunshine State. I'm beginning to develop a love affair with this place. I love Maine. I love Florida. And I'm enjoying the best of both worlds. Did I tell you that I love Jupiter? Not the planet but the beach. Last week, we spent most of our days house hunting, driving around, walking along the beach, and discovering new restaurants and getting to know the area. One good thing about this trip is that all expenses were paid by the company. Yeah Baby, the best things in life comes for free. Housing in the Palm Beach area is teeming. We've made a lot of trips to different rental, resort like communities, and all of the places we saw, we love. It was always love at first sight. The first place we saw was in a gated community which we almost got. But then we decided to see more places to compare only to find out that there are a lot more places much better than the previous. Then we saw one more that is again better than the previous...and so on and so on. It just gets getting better and better. If we keep looking, we will find something better than the other so we thought this will be a never ending hunt. Hilong hilo na ako. Im starting to have a headache. We must make a decision, or I must, I should say. The decision is upon me now. It wasn't easy, considering the equally gorgeous places we saw, but Jupiter Bay Resort (see pictures above) stood out from the rest. It is a short walk to the Beach, shopping malls and restaurants and it is fully furnished in a tropical setting. What else will you look for? That will be our new address for the next 9 months. Life is a never ending journey. Where's next?

From Snow to Sunshine

It was a snowy day in Maine, we left the house at 3am to catch our 6am flight out of Portland to West Palm beach. Although the travel time is only an hour and a half, we decided to leave early as we anticipated a very terrible road condition having just rained the night before. The temp was a freezing 30F, our driveway was icy, we were moving at a snail's pace, I'm trying so hard to remember knock knock jokes to keep Greg awake. Corny, but it served the purpose and saved Greg from being grumpy. Finally we got to the airport a quarter before 5. After the usual check in and security requirements, we were airborne at 6am. I left Maine wearing 4 layers of clothes, with matching gloves, hat and scarf, in high-hilled boots (hand me down from my sister....ssshhhhh), feeling like a model from a winter edition of a vogue magazine, feeling lang naman. At the airport, where the temperature is controlled, I took the chance to take off my very thick overcoat. It seems like 5 kilos had been offloaded, and it was a relief. We had a short stop in Washington DC before the plane proceed to West Palm Beach. In DC, the temperature was in the 60s, so another 2 kilos of jacket had been offloaded. This time I am only wearing a long sleeved blouse and an undershirt, awesome. I havent been to Florida yet, so I was very excited at this trip. Besides, I have been doing my research, I found the place really really nice, so I was looking forward to our landing. Finally, we are in West Palm Beach. West Palm Beach is a high-end retirement place. The first thing you will notice are the retired couple at the arrival area waving at their loved ones, smiling. They are a picture of a happy, relaxed, beautiful senior citizens. I looked at Greg and with contrite heart, I said: "Welcome to your world"...he hit me in the head, ouch! Everything here looks so familiar. The trees, the plants, the humidity, the beaches are all reminiscent of Virac. I told Greg, I feel like home, except that the roads are better, everyone's driving fancy cars, houses are nicer, gardens are kept and neatly manicured and there are no traffic. We picked up our car and we drove to Juno Beach while Greg gave me an educational tour of the FPL complex, Greg's future office. I noticed that were the only ones driving an economy car. The temp was deliciously warm in the 80s and very humid. This time, I was feeling really hot, and with nothing more left to take off except a spaghetti shirt, I decided to keep it on, to save me from humiliation and arrest. Then we went to Jupiter Beach and watched the board surfers, kite surfers, and lots of people swimming, it was the President's day, so people congregated at the beach. The ocean was so tempting, Greg asked me if I want to take a dip, I hesitated for a moment so ashamed that people will see my most kept "bilbil" secret, but looking around, I could see people flaunting shamelessly their "bilbils" along with big "patas", so I told myself, what the heck, lets go. I was probably the sexiest most "bilbiled" malnourished human being swimming in Jupiter Beach. But who cares? Then we remember to check in our hotel. After dropping our things, we went to the grocery, bought a bottle of wine, cheeze, grapes and went back to the beach. The moon was almost full. We spread our mat, opened the bottle of wine, and started counting the stars. I almost fell to sleep. I look at Greg's watch, it was 8pm, the wind is getting chilly with no more wine to drink then we decided to go back to the hotel. Just as we were getting up, we noticed a sign above us that says: "Alcohol is not allowed in this area".

Hello Juno Beach, Florida

We are moving to Juno Beach Florida. Greg signed a job at Florida Power and Light in Juno Beach. It is so exciting as the weather there is just like the Philippines, very tropical. This move will also expose us to many exciting places such as the Carribean wich is just minutes away by plane hence travels to this awesome places is very much in the offing. I hope Greg isnt too tied up with his job to take on this much awaited get away or we will both be very disappointed. Right now, I am sorting things out to see what things need to be shipped to Florida. Tomorrow is the big day. I will blog once we get there.
